Bob Nightengale of USAToday and later reported by Nati Sports here as well, posted about several teams looking for elite relief help. The Cincinnati Reds were one of them. There is some good history when it comes to Devin Williams and Reds pitching coach, Derek Johnson, and many think that relationship could aide in getting Devin Williams to Cincinnati.
What Type Of Contract Is Devin Williams Seeking
It’s rumored that Devin Williams is looking for a ‘prove it’ deal with high AAV versus longevity. Williams was a -0.3 bWAR player in 2025, however, under the hood, he was actually quite good. If you check his statcast out, he had a lot of good going, so there’s nothing to read into about his performance, in our opinion. After all, Williams is a All Star and has many good years under his belt.
Cincinnati Reds Have A Lot To Look Forward To
I am looking forward to seeing the Reds play in 2026. There’s a lot to look forward to, like young guys named Sal Stewart whom we wrote about earlier in the year detailing his breakout 2025. The Reds are going to need some of the elite relief pitching help that Nightengale cited them seeking.
