This morning Robert Murray from FanSided reports that the emerging star for the Seattle Mariners, Colt Emerson, is agreeing to a long term contract extension crossing over 9 years total. It’s said to be worth about $96,000,000 in total.

In this article from FanSided, Murray states that Emerson will have a full no trade clause and escalators that can bring it up toward $130,000,000. The full no trade clause is something very unique, this has yet to be done in a pre-majors deal, so it’s pretty exciting to see.
- Up to 9 year deal
- $95,000,000 Guaranteed
- Could pay up to $130,000,000 if escalators hit
- 9th year is club option
- Has not played a single game at MLB level
As of writing this article, Colt Emerson is the 7th ranked prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline. He’s graded at 60 overall, which is elite status, and has a 65 grade hit tool, 50 grade power, 50 grade run, 55 grade arm, and 55 grade fielding. He’s 20 years old and won’t be able to legally buy an adult beverage until July 21st. Last season he slashed .285/.383/.458/.841 with 16 HRs, 28 2Bs, and 6 3Bs. He walked 71 times paired to 105 Ks. This kid is the real deal. Smart by the Mariners to get him locked in, and ballsy to offer a no trade clause. Jerry Dipoto strikes again.
